Saif Ali Khan attack case: 2 staffers of actor’s house identify arrested Bangladeshi man as attacker

Two staff members at Saif Ali Khan’s residence have identified Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir as the individual who attacked the actor after illegally entering his home last month, a police official confirmed on Thursday.

Here’s an update on Saif Ali Khan’s attack case

Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30), also known as Vijay Das, was arrested last month for allegedly stabbing Khan and is currently in judicial custody.

On Wednesday, the Mumbai police conducted an Identification Parade (IP) at Arthur Road Jail as part of the ongoing investigation. Eliyamma Phillip (56), a staff member at Khan’s residence, and house help Junu identified Shariful as the assailant.

The identification parade was conducted in the presence of a tehsildar and five panchas, the official added.

Phillip is a key witness in the case, as she was also allegedly attacked by the accused, according to the police.

Last month, the city police revealed that a facial recognition test confirmed that the suspect’s face matched the person seen in CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where Khan resides.
The police stated that Shariful allegedly broke into the actor’s 12th-floor apartment in the early hours of January 16 and stabbed him six times before fleeing. He was apprehended in Thane three days later.

Following the knife attack, Khan, 54, was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries. He was discharged on January 21.
